| Carpet tiles |
Regular vacuuming is the best way to deal with everyday dust and dirt. Heuga carpet tiles are manufactured using stain resistant material and fibres. But, for those inevitable spills and accidents, it's best to treat the area as promptly as possible. Scrape up any solids as soon as possible, working from the edges of the spill towards the centre so that it doesn't spread.
Excess liquid can be soaked up by placing a thick wad of absorbent paper over the area and pressing firmly. Sponge clean if required or the tiles can be lifted and rinsed under the tap. You can use a mild detergent solution and scrub gently with a brush where necessary, but it is important to remove all traces of detergent by rinsing. Use absorbent paper to mop up as much excess moisture as possible, and allow to dry. If you lift a tile to clean it, you should make sure it is dry before you put it back. But let it dry naturally; don't put it on a radiator or other artificially hot surface as this may damage the tile. | | Back to top |

| Solid vinyl tiles (Smart Steps) |
Heuga solid vinyl tiles, have a specially applied, high performance surface layer, and are very straightforward to maintain.
Regular sweeping with a soft bristle brush or vacuuming with a suction only unit, is the best way to deal with dust and loose dirt. Mopping with a neutral cleansing solution will handle dried on dirt.
For heavier soiling and stains, and any rubber heel marks that may occur, a proprietary vinyl cleaner should be used.
Water should be used sparingly to ensure that no pools are left on the surface as this may lead to water ingress between the joins. Spillages of fat or oil should be treated immediately by wiping up any excess liquid, mopping with a detergent and finally a thorough rinse with clean water.
Regular household disinfectant, used strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, can be used to on the tiles.
Do not use soap or soap solutions to clean the tiles. This is likely to create a very sticky film on the tiles which is both difficult to remove and will create a slip hazard, especially when wet. | | Back to top |
