Colour is very important in floors because a change in colour can mean a change in character, size and 'mood'. Bright colours seem even brighter next to a complimentary colour.
  


Blue can make a space bigger and cooler; Red can make it smaller and warmer. Warm colours are: red, orange, yellow, pink, brown
Cool colours are: green, blue-green, blue, purple  


Dark colours make a space smaller; light colours make it bigger.

You can use different colours to define different spaces - living, sleeping, eating.
